Tigger is a 4 year old American Pit Bull Terrier/ Shepherd mix. This sweet boy was surrendered when he needed emergency surgery and his owner could not afford to pay for it. Upon arriving at LPCHS, he received emergency surgery and our vet removed a piece of a glove, as well as multiple other rock hard foreign bodies from his abdominal cavity. Tigger has recovered and is now well enough to be worked with and adopted. Tigger has quite a story, his previous owner got him after he had been chained up in a bad situation for him. He worked with Tigger to help him deal with the "real world" and Tigger has made some great progress, but he still has a ways to go. Because he was chained up (and this happens to many dogs who are tied up long-term) he has shown a lot of dog reactivity. We have worked with Tigger to overcome these issues, and he has made incredible progress. He now ignores every dog he sees with a quick reminder to "leave it" and has a doggy play buddy. Tigger could live with another dog, as long as they are confident enough to play with him and correct him when he is inappropriate, but he does need to go to a cat-free home. Tigger loves to be with people he knows, and really enjoys cuddling and attention. He would be a great hiking and running partner and would do best in an active home. Tigger also LOVES to roll around and lay on couches, please look at our Facebook page for a video of Tigger on one of our thrift store couches. Tigger is already house trained, crate trained, but needs to be kenneled when left alone or he may chew something. Tigger is neutered, micro-chipped, and up to date on his vaccines for $99. Tigger has been at the shelter since 2/27/18.
